Essential Information

Making A Booking
Brochure Information

All information contained on this website is correct at the time of publication based on information available. Please remember, however, that brochures are produced up to 12 months in advance and there may be occasions when certain information shown is no longer accurate. We reserve the right, therefore, to change any brochure information before your booking and the amended information will then form part of your booking contract with ourselves.

Making A Booking
Booking Conditions

You MUST read the Booking Conditions as these contain important information relating to your booking, our commitments to you and your commitments to us.

Making A Booking
Special Requests

Any special request should be advised to us at the time of booking with as much detail as possible. We will do our best to help. If your special request can only be met at additional cost, that cost will either be invoiced to you prior to departure or must be settled by you directly with the supplier concerned, at the point of delivery.

Making A Booking
Impaired Mobility

Cosmos, in line with most Tour Operators, endeavours to accommodate all customers, including those with disabilities. However, our experience indicates that certain holidays are not suitable for customers who rely upon wheelchairs for mobility or have certain other disabilities. To ensure the suitability of the holiday you have chosen, we strongly urge that you or your Travel Agent telephone the Cosmos Special Needs Department prior to booking on 0871 622 4254.

Prices

All basic holiday prices advertised are based on the lowest price type of accommodation in any one hotel or apartment and the lowest cost flight. Where applicable, supplements are payable for accommodation with additional facilities and/or usually other flights depending upon the day of the week, time of departure and airport involved. These supplements are shown in each accommodation price panel or on the relevant flight information panel. We reserve the right to change flight supplements from time to time. Supplements can go up or down. The supplement when you book will not exceed the supplements stated on the flight pages by more than £100. Please check the up-to-date supplement for your chosen holiday with your travel agent before you book. Not all hotels and apartments are necessarily available on every flight featured to the relevant destination.

Advertised apartment prices are based on the maximum adult (ie. full-fare paying passenger) occupancy and supplements for adult occupancies below the maximum are shown. Children do NOT count towards adult occupancy in apartments. Due to the complexity of apartment pricing, occasions may arise where the total price for a booking including 1 or more children is higher than the total price for the same booking in which all passengers are charged as adults. In such cases the lower of the two total prices is available on request. Our prices include extra aviation insurance and a security levy which have been imposed on airlines and tour operators, following the world events of September 2001. These charges may change between the date of publication of this brochure, and the time of travel. Since these costs are beyond our control, we reserve the right to pass on any additional charges to you at the time of booking. Your travel agent will tell you about any extra charges and they will be included within your holiday costing. Therefore you must check carefully the total costings, including these extra charges, with your agent before you book.

Prices
Deposits

A deposit of £115 per person must be paid when you book your Cosmos holiday, except for children under 2 years of age on day of return.

Prices
Single Travellers

It used to be that if you travelled alone you got penalised, but at Cosmos we have many hotels where there are no supplements to pay for either single rooms or sole occupancy of a twin, depending on the type of room available when you book. Remember that single rooms will be smaller and not always have the same general standard of facilities as twin rooms.

Prices
Lowest Price Guarantee

We are confident that prices in this brochure offer the very best holiday value available. We make every effort to ensure that you will not find lower prices anywhere else.

Prices
Exchange Rates

All prices include VAT on all holidays to EU countries and are based on the following exchange rates: Euro 1.4876. These rates are as quoted in the Financial Times ’Guide to World Currencies’ on Mon 8 March 2004. The FTO base date was Fri 5 March 2004.

Families

Cosmos caters for all types and sizes of families and the number of people (adults and/or children) is indicated in the property description and price panel.

In the majority of cases, child prices and reductions apply to children or teenagers up to and including the age of 16 in apartments and 12 in hotels, although this can sometimes vary. Where this is the case, we have indicated the applicable child age on individual descriptions.

Families
One Adult Families

Normally child prices only apply when children share with 2 adults - however Cosmos has a selection of hotels where children sharing with one adult can pay the 1st and 2nd child panel price. Where rooms are large enough for 4 people (eg. 1 adult and 3 children), the 3rd child will have to pay the adult price. In this case, if a free child place is available, then the first child would qualify for a free holiday, however, this is not the case if only one full fare is being paid. One adult families offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount. To book, you’ll need to ring us on 0871 622 4268.

Families
Child Prices And Free Places

Cosmos is pleased to offer some incredible child prices from as little as £1, and free places, so all families get a great deal.

Families
Child Prices

1st and 2nd children pay the prices advertised in the price panels.

Families
3rd And Subsequent Child Prices

3rd and subsequent children also receive a reduced price, and will pay a supplement of £50 on top of the 2nd child price.

Kid's Rulebook

  • Free child places and child prices only apply where children share an apartment or hotel room with at least 2 people paying the full adult price (maximum of 5 children in apartments).
  • Free child places are not available when sharing with only one full fare-paying passenger (eg. One adult family offers); in this case children pay the child price advertised in the price panel. Where this offer is not available the first child pays the adult price.
  • To qualify for free places, reduced or advertised prices and reductions, the child’s age must not exceed the age limit, which is usually up to 16* in self-catering apartments and 12 in hotels and on half board, full board and all inclusive meal arrangements, on the day of departure. This can sometimes vary, in which case the different age limit will be shown in the accommodation description.
    * 19 in selected special offer apartments.
  • Advertised child prices and reductions do not include any additional room or board supplements or holiday insurance, which should be added in full. Advertised prices and reductions do not include any applicable flight supplements.
  • Free places are limited to one per room or apartment, except in our ’2 Free Kids’ offer detailed on page 4.
  • The normal deposit of £115 per person is payable for all children/teenagers including free places. Deposit for free places will be deducted from final invoice.
  • Free places and savings are on a first come first served basis, subject to availability and aren’t available on every holiday.
  • Some hotel rooms for 4 people may include folding or bunk beds for children.
  • Prices shown for adults in apartments are based on the maximum number of adults able to share that apartment, so if you have less than that number in your party each adult will need to pay a supplement, as shown in the price panel. Children who qualify for a free place or advertised child price do not pay any occupancy supplements and for pricing purposes only, do not count towards the overall occupancy.
  • Unaccompanied children: we do not accept bookings from unaccompanied children under 18.

Kid's Rulebook
Infants

Infants under 2 years of age on day of return pay £35 charter and £59 scheduled on all flights, and must travel on an adult’s lap if there is no spare seat and have no baggage allowance or in-flight meal nor do they pay a holiday deposit. Infants aged over 6 months and under 3 years can use cartype seats on board aircraft (which you must provide yourself) if you book a separate seat, usually at the cost of the advertised child price or the relevant Cosmos flight only price, whichever is the cheapest. For further information on these regulations, requirements and charges, and to book additional seats, call 0871 622 4268. Cots are normally provided by property management. There may be limited availability and may not always conform to British Safety Standards. In order to avoid disappointment you may wish to take your own carrycot. The cost of cots, and extras like food, should be paid for directly to the hotel. High chairs where stated on individual property pages, are normally only available in the restaurant.

Before You Go
Travel Documents

We will send you all the necessary holiday documents (tickets, important information, luggage labels etc) approximately 7- 21 days prior to your departure.

Before You Go
Passports

Please check at a Post Office or on the contact details below, about fees and services for passport applications, renewals and amendments, before booking your holiday. As travel regulations are constantly changing, we are unable to provide up-to-date information concerning such requirements. It is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with all necessary Visa, Passport or other travel regulations

Validity: A valid passport is essential when you travel abroad. Although your passport has been issued for 10 years (5 years for children), you should note that some overseas countries have an immigration requirement for a passport to remain valid for a minimum period after the date of entry to that country (typically 6 months). If your passport is in its final year of validity, you are advised to check the requirements of the country (ies) of destination before you make final travel plans.

Apply early: If you need to apply for a passport or to renew an expired passport you should do so well in advance of travel.

Names: The name on the passport must match the name on the ticket, otherwise you may not be able to travel and insurance may be invalid.

Children and young people: All children who are not already included on a valid British passport will need to hold their own passport if they are to travel abroad. Children who were included on a passport before 5 October 1998 may continue to travel with the passport holder until:

  • The child reaches the age of 16; or
  • The passport on which the child is included expires; or
  • The passport on which the child is included is replaced or an amendment results in the issue of a new passport.

Further information from the UK Passport Service can be obtained as follows:

Adviceline: 0870 5210410 (calls charged at national rate); faxback information line: 0901 4700130;

website:www.passport.gov.uk.

Applications requests - telephone: 0901 4700110; fax: 0901 4700120 (calls cost between 60p-90p).

If you hold a Commonwealth or non-British Passport please check Passport and Visa regulations with the Consulate of all the countries you will be visiting or passing through..usembassy.org.uk.

Important Note Regarding Passports

If you are a UK resident you are entitled to free, or reduced cost, state provided healthcare when visiting a European Union (EU) country, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. However to be covered you will need to take a new completed E111 form with you, which you can get, free of charge, from your nearest post office. A new E111 form has been introduced and replaces the old one which is only valid until 31st December 2004. Therefore all travel after this date requires a new form.

The main difference is that the new form is now issued on an individual rather than a family basis.

In addition, during the course of 2005 the UK will be adopting the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This will be automatically issued to those who apply for the new E111 form and tick the box to receive the new card.

The new E111 form and the booklet “Health Advice for Travellers” can be obtained from the Post Office. Forms are also available to download from the Department of Health’s website: www.dh.gov.uk/travellers

Please note the section ‘Getting treatment in countries inside the EEA’.

The new E111 form will be valid from until 31st December 2005.

Before You Go
Currency,Traveller's Cheques & Credit Cards

It’s a good idea to take your spending money partly in foreign currency and partly in traveller’s cheques. Traveller’s cheques are the safest way to carry money as they are easily cashed for a small service charge and you are covered if you lose them. Otherwise you’ll find MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club credit cards are widely accepted.

Please note: All EU countries use the Euro currency, and have withdrawn their old national currencies. Travel Advice

The Foreign & Commonwealth Travel Unit may have issued information about your holiday destination. You are advised to check this information on BBC2 (Ceefax) page 470 onwards or on the Internet under the address http://www.fco.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can contact them on 020 7008 0232/0233 of the ABTA Information Department on 0891 202520 (calls charged at 50p/minute).

Before You Go
Check It Out Before You Go

We are working with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to do all we can to help British travellers stay safe overseas. Before you go overseas, check out the FCO web site at

www.fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo: It is packed with essential travel advice and tips, and up-todate country-specific information.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Full Names on Tickets

Due to increased security measures, all airlines now require first and last names on the airline tickets. This must be the name that appears on your passport and should be the name made on your booking with us. It is your responsibility to ensure this information is correct on your invoice and other documentation. Any changes will lead to a charge being made by the airline to you.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Airline Services

Cosmos uses a range of reputable airlines including our own sister company, Monarch Airlines, which offer a range of facilities to make your flight and airport experience more special. These include: Pre-bookable seats, Monarch plus, VIP airport lounges and airport parking. We recommend that all these are confirmed at the time of booking in order to avoid disappointment.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Monarch Scheduled

In keeping with established ‘no-frills’ airlines, Monarch Scheduled no longer offers meals and drinks included as part of its service. It does however offer a selection of drinks, snacks and meals appropriate to the time of flight for purchase, but does include a complimentary headset for use with the in-flight enterainment and a newspaper on all its flights.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Flights

Flight timings shown in this brochure are based on a 24- hour clock system. These timings, however, are provisional and will be submitted for approval by UK and overseas scheduling committees, and therefore given for guidance only, and subject to alteration and confirmation. Our reservation system will show the latest timings as advised to us. Please check your flight tickets as soon as you receive them, as they will show the final timings for your flight.

Flights are scheduled to be operated by the following airlines: Air Europa, Air Malta, Astraeus, Britannia Airways, British Airways, bmi, European Air Charter, Excel Airways, First Choice Airways, Futura, GB Airways, Helios Airways, Iberworld, LTE, Monarch Airlines, MyTravel Airways, Pegasus Airlines, Spanair, Thomas Cook Airlines. Using Airbus A300, A310, A320, A321, A330, Boeing 737, 757, 767, 777, Douglas, MD-83/87, Avroliner RJ100 aircraft. However, we reserve the right to substitute alternative airlines and/or aircraft if necessary and any such change will not entitle a client to cancel without penalty.

Please note that not all resorts are served by all flights to a particular destination.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Deep Vein Thrombosis

Lengthy periods of immobility can increase the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), but there are simple steps that you can take to reduce susceptibility. Take plenty of nonalcoholic drinks; get up and move about whenever possible, do some simple foot and leg exercises. Your airline may demonstrate the type of exercise or get yourself a copy of “Health Advice for Travellers” free by calling 0800 555 777. Also see the DoH website www.doh.gov.uk/hat, or pages 460-464 on CEEFAX.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Pregnancy

Airline Regulations state that women 28 weeks or more into pregnancy, at the time of return travel, must have a medical certificate of fitness to travel. Normally after 32 weeks permission to travel is refused.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
No Smoking

Charter airlines operate a no smoking policy.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Check-in

Avoid big queues at the airport and get to the check-in on time. Better still pre-book your seats. You must get to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight is due to leave. If you don’t, the airline could refuse to take you, in which case you will have to pay to get another flight out.

Airlines, Airports And Flights
Baggage

Your baggage allowance is generally 44lbs (20 kilos) per person except children under 2 who have no allowance. You may not combine your allowance with others in your party and take a single piece of luggage over this allowance. If you go over this amount the airline may refuse to carry it or charge you an ’excess luggage’ fee. Normally special items such as golf clubs, wheelchairs, pushchairs, surfboards etc, can be carried but you should check direct with your airline before travel. It’s possible that local contractors may charge an excess fee for carriage of windsurf/surf equipment and golf clubs* on transfer coaches. Airlines also have strict rules on carrying certain items in baggage - details will be sent with your travel documents. Also see X-RAY below.:

Airlines, Airports And Flights
X-ray

All baggage will be x-rayed at airports, so if you have any odd shaped items, scissors, penknives or toy guns for example, or any sharp objects such as darts or metal nail files, expect to have your bag examined and those items confiscated. Films and camera equipment is safe in hand luggage, but not in the bags you check in to the hold.

Your Accommodation

Your accommodation is the key to your holiday so we provide as much information as possible to help you choose the right one.

Individual descriptions give you basic facts, figures, and photographs of several aspects of the accommodation. It is only fair to point out that not every room in each property is identical or has the same views. Distances are usually measured from the nearest point of public access, so if you have a room in the grounds, it may be slightly further away or nearer than stated in the brochure text..

Your Accommodation
Exclusive to Cosmos

You’ll find many properties in this brochure that are either totally exclusive to us, or exclusive to us in the UK market; in other words they won’t appear in the brochures of any other UK tour operator.

Your Accommodation
Customer Service Questionnaire

Findings (as shown next to individual properties) are analysed by an independent market research company and are based on summer 2003 scores. Where properties do not carry a percentage this can be explained by one of the following reasons: the property was new to Cosmos for summer 2004 or 2005; we haven’t received sufficient responses to give you an accurate picture; the nature of the hotel or apartment has changed (eg it has been refurbished, it is under new management or now caters for a different type of client). Also some apartments offer optional half and/or full board upgrades so in some cases where we have insufficient repsonses the scores will not be shown.

Your Accommodation
Abbreviations

You’ll find abbreviations are used in our price panels, so to help you, this is what they mean: PB = bathroom; PS = shower; WC = toilet; BL = balcony; TR = terrace; SV = sea view; SSV = side sea view.

Your Accommodation
Hotels

Our reference to “Hotel” in this brochure covers all accommodation and does not necessarily distinguish between local classifications such as “Aparthotel”, “Hostel”, “Pension”, “Taverna”, “Residencia” etc.

Your Accommodation
Apartments

These are self-contained units with at least one separate bedroom, shower room or bathroom and are usually on one level, although they may occasionally be split-level. They are equipped with basic cooking facilities (minimum of two cooking rings and fridge) and have crockery, cutlery and utensils for the maximum number of people who can occupy it. All apartments are provided with bed linen and towels (not beach towels) which are changed at least once a week. Apartment descriptions tell you how many adults can occupy an apartment (eg. apartment for up to 6) although if your party is less than the maximum, there may not be 6 ‘beds’ at the time of your stay.

Your Accommodation
Studios

These are one room which acts as living and sleeping accommodation and has basic cooking facilities (usually 2 rings and a fridge) and a mixture of single beds and convertible sofas or divans depending on its size.

Your Accommodation
Hotel Rooms

Bedroom descriptions are as follows: Twin = room with 2 single beds; Double = room with a double bed; Single = room with a single bed; Sole occupancy = twin or double room for use by one person.

Single rooms are scarce and may not be the same general standard as twin rooms; they may be smaller with no balcony.

Three or four bedded rooms usually mean a twin bedded room with extra folding or bunk beds so you will need to be prepared for having less space. Extra beds may well be the folding types, which are easier to move in and out of rooms.

Your Accommodation
Deposits

In some areas you may be asked to pay a deposit in apartments or studios and villas to cover accidental damage or breakage - this is refundable when you leave.

Your Accommodation
Diamond Ratings

Official ratings are set by relevant overseas authorities (where applicable), but unfortunately do not represent a consistent way of comparing accommodation standards from one country to the next. Therefore, Cosmos has established its own Diamond ratings to help you choose. These are based on our own knowledge at the time of going to press, and take into account facilities, food, service and location as well as the characteristic differences between hotels and apartments. The ratings are given on a scale of 2- 5 diamonds and represent a range from basic good value without frills to above average with extra comfort. Properties with a ‘plus’ rating are those which have that little something extra that stands them apart. Not all accommodation within the same rating will necessarily offer the same facilities.

Your Accommodation
Number of Nights

Your accommodation is reserved for you on the day you leave the UK (see also ‘Check-in/Check-out’ below). For night flights departing after midnight, the day you leave the UK is deemed to be the previous day so that you have immediate access when you arrive. Where half or full board has been booked and flight timings may mean losing one meal, your holiday price has been adjusted to compensate.

Your Accommodation
Check-in/Check-out

Checking in and checking out times vary slightly from resort to resort, but generally are as follows: check in from 2pm (on occasions it may be later); check out on the last day of your holiday is 10am in apartments and midday in hotels. In some cases you may have to wait to access your accommodation depending on your flight arrival time or have several hours before your homeward flight departs. Wherever possible a room will be made available for changing and storing luggage. Sometimes hotels may let you keep your room (arranged in resort) but they are entitled to make a charge. This is not normally possible with apartments.

Your Accommodation
Availability of Facilities

Sometimes advertised facilities may not be available or fully operational in the early and late part of the season, particularly March-early April or late October. Airconditioning is controlled by hoteliers and may only be available at certain times of the day or year. Unless stated otherwise, some facilities at hotels and beaches (eg. sun beds and/or mattresses, parasols, towels, water sports, sports equipment, gyms, saunas, safety deposit boxes, airconditioning satellite TV, mini bars, disco, cots) may incur a local charge. See also ‘All Inclusive Holidays’ and ‘Prices’. Some properties now utilise solar power for heating water, and although we encourage this in terms of the environment, it does sometimes lead to a reduced hot water supply if there is insufficient sunlight.

Your Accommodation
Maid Service

Properties have a maid service for general cleaning duties and linen/towel changes as appropriate, which does not include washing up, and varies from area to area. The frequency of cleaning as specified in the individual property descriptions, may include the cleaning on arrival and departure.

Your Accommodation
Swimming Pools

Hotels usually only heat their swimming pools during cold weather, subject to the number of clients in residence. The decision must of course rest with the establishment. Occasionally pools will not be available at the very beginning of the season, however, we will endeavour to advise you prior to departure. Occasionally pools will be filled with seawater. See individual property descriptions.

Your Accommodation
Meals

Self-service buffet-style meals are now the most popular methods of meal service in hotels, and include hot and cold dishes. Not all hotels have a choice of menu, others may offer two sittings at meal times for your comfort and at certain properties the choice of restaurants offering the advertised board basis may be restricted; if this is the case, you may have to pay a charge to eat at the other restaurant(s). Our descriptions show the meal arrangements available at your hotel although occasionally these may change.

Your Accommodation
All Inclusive Holidays

All Inclusive normally includes all meals and local drinks (during the bar opening hours as specified as well as day and evening activities at your hotel. Beer available in the ‘All Inclusive’ package is usually draught not bottled, ‘local’ wine is usually house wine served by the glass from a barrel not a bottle and carbonated soft drinks are usually on tap not bottled. Drinks may be served in plastic beakers not glass, particularly around swimming pools. The services, facilities and meals available do vary from hotel to hotel, so make sure you check the paragraph headed “All Inclusive means” with each hotel description for exact details. An extra charge will be made for imported alcoholic drinks and certain facilities such as games machines or pool tables still require you to insert your own coins. You must also pay for infants’ meals locally.

Note: Times when included drinks and snacks are served may sometimes vary from those shown, but are typically between 11am and midnight. A ‘cash’ bar may operate outside these times. Alcohol licensing laws vary for different countries so guests cannot be served with alcoholic drinks in All-Inclusive hotels if they are ‘under age’ for that country. There may also be age or experience restrictions on some watersports.

Your Accommodation
Dress Code

All Elite properties and some other hotels request that men wear long trousers for dinner, not shorts and t-shirts. See individual hotel descriptions.

Your Accommodation
Single Occupancy Supplements

If you want to occupy a room by yourself you will note that there is normally a charge for a single supplement. The reason for this is that our contract with each property is based on a price per room while our holidays, including flights and other elements are sold per person, therefore the lone traveller effectively pays the entire room cost. Single/twin for sole occupancy rooms with nil supplement are limited (normally by the property), and are subject to availability and early booking. See also Hotel Rooms.

In Resort
Transfer Times

Approximate transfer times from airports to accommodation are shown on resort information pages. These are obviously dependent on local traffic and the number of stops made at other hotels and apartments enroute.

In Resort
Excursions

Going abroad isn’t just about getting the sun, it’s about seeing different places and cultures, that’s why Cosmos is able to offer an excellent range of excursions in each of our resorts. See your Cosmos consultant or appointed agent to find out more. Many of our resort excursions can be paid for by credit card and as in the UK, a fee may be charged.

In Resort
Health,Safety and Local Standards

The safety standards and regulations, which apply overseas, are those of the country concerned. Because of this, the general standards of safety, hygiene, fire precautions etc can be lower than those we have come to expect in the UK. We suggest you familiarise yourself with fire escapes and don’t let non-swimmers or children jump into a swimming pool before checking the depths and exit.

Upset stomachs are often caused by the change in climate, drinking ice cold drinks, and not necessarily by local hygiene or food preparation standards. Sexually transmitted diseases (including AIDS) are a serious threat to health throughout the world. Exercise caution and seek immediate medical attention if you think you may have been infected.

It is unwise to have your skin pierced. Rabies is a serious hazard all over the world. Avoid touching animals, especially wild or stray

In Resort
Sustainable Tourism

As more and more people are travelling abroad each year, bringing many positive benefits to all parties involved, there is also a growing concern about the possible negative impacts that tourism can have on the environment and culture of the destinations visited. As a responsible tour operator, we recognise the vital role that the holiday industry has to play in sustaining and improving the environment, not only for today’s visitors but for many generations to come. With all this is mind, Cosmos Holidays plc has joined The Travel Foundation (see below) to help in this cause, and we encourage all our customers to try to do what they can as well. The paper for all our brochures comes from sustainable forests; you can help as well by either recycling your copy or passing on to someone else when you have finished with it.

In Resort
The Travel Foundation

Cosmos Holidays plc is supporting The Travel Foundation, the UK charity that cares for places we love to visit. You can find out more at www.thetravelfoundation.org.uk

On Your Return
Customer Service Questionnaires

Your opinions about our services are one of the most important elements to us, and therefore we encourage you to complete one of our Holiday Survey Forms at the end of your holiday. This will help us to make any improvements to the holidays that we offer.
