Happy New Year
Celebrate in style at the Davvi Arctic Lodge
See in the New Year TWICE with a stroll across the Finland/Sweden border
IT’S NEW YEAR’S Eve and in the crisp air of a Lapland night you celebrate the birth of a new year, perhaps – if you are really lucky – beneath nature’s own magnificent firework show, the Northern Lights. You’ve had such a good time seeing in the New Year, you wish you could do it all again. Well you can. Because the village of Karesuando lies on the Finnish/Swedish border and given the hour’s time difference between the two countries, you can stroll across the border to Sweden and start your celebrations all over again! Twice the celebrations … and twice the fun! Your New Year celebrations are only part of your short break. But there is so much more included. From a Search for Santa, to a Husky Experience, from a New Year Dinner to a Snowmobile Adventure, your three-night break is packed with magical experiences. Here is a typical itinerary.
DECEMBER 30
After a festive flight, you land in Enontekiö in Finland and are guided to your coach. The one-hour journey takes you through the heart of the Sámi lands. Watch out for reindeer in the woods! We stop to collect your all-in-one thermal suits and boots. After checking in at the Davvi Arctic Lodge, your rep hosts
a welcome meeting and will answer any further questions during a welcome dinner. Tonight, you can join one of our optional activities, such as a snowmobile night safari, hoping to encounter the Northern Lights.
NEW YEAR’S EVE
After breakfast, you head out on your first safari - either a thrilling 40-minute Husky Experience or an exhilarating 1.5-hour Snowmobile Adventure, followed by a warming buffet lunch at the hotel. Throughout the day you can enjoy snow activities outside, with toboggans available free and kick sledges
upon payment of a deposit. There’s even an outdoor ice rink, with skates for youngsters to hire. Or there’s plenty of family fun to be had making snowmen or enjoying a good old-fashioned snowball fight! This evening, enjoy a walk to the local church, across the border. After a short welcome by the vicar and
carols, you return to the Davvi Arctic Lodge for a host’s cocktail reception, followed by a special New Year Celebration.
NEW YEAR’S DAY
After breakfast, you head outside for Supervised Snow Fun, a day of activities that include a Snowshoe Trek, Snowball Throwing Contest, Tandem Skis and Children’s Skis, Snowman Building, Tug-of-War, Snow Hockey and lots more! There will also be a supervised kids’ snowmobile ride. Activities are available throughout the day. A warming lunch will be served in the hotel. Afterwards, you might opt to join the indoor craft activities. Or, just relax indoors. There’s also a chance to join a Wilderness Treasure Hunt! Then, the highlight of the day when you board a reindeer sleigh and set off In Search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and receives a small gift. After dinner, relax, or join one of our
optional husky night safaris, perhaps in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. This evening, perhaps have a drink in Davvi’s unique Ice Bar. After dinner, relax, or join one of our optional night safaris.
JANUARY 2
Check out after breakfast, before joining your last Santa safari, a 40-minute Husky Experience or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Adventure, which ever you did not join previously. There should be time for one final play in the snow or to join one of our optional excursions. After lunch at the hotel, you depart for Enontekiö and your flight home.
