Holidays in Lapland with heating oil to keep you warm
There are relatively few areas in Europe that can truly be described as unspoilt these days but parts of Lapland most definitely qualify and for this reason are popular with holidaymakers from nearby countries. The existence of various Santa-themed destinations also makes it a good place to take young children. However, the temperature is often well below freezing so if you plan to stay in a secluded cabin then you will need to think about how to keep it heated during your stay. Kerosene-fired boilers are a popular choice in many parts of the world where mains gas is not available and if your accommodation is equipped with one of these units then you should have no problems. This is assuming, of course, that heating oil is available from local sources.
Lapland can be a great place to visit but you may need the services of a local guide in order to make the most of your break and avoid any problems. Package deals can be a good choice as they normally include a number of prearranged activities and save you the bother of having to find your own accommodation. However, if you happen to have a friend with a holiday cabin in this area then it is possible to book flights and other transport yourself. Your friend will hopefully be able to tell you where the nearest place is that sells kerosene, so you and your family can look forward to returning to a cosy, warm room every evening.
